Sea Kayak Half Day Trip - August 1st

We had a great day paddling with the Maine Arts Camp senior campers in Johns Bay yesterday.  We started out the morning with some instruction and warmed up our skills in Pemaquid Harbor.  After getting the feel for the kayaks we paddled by Fort William Henry State Historical Site and stopped on Little Beach for a picnic lunch.  The water was warm and great for looking for hermit crabs and star fish.

Our group launched off the beach for a paddle over to the Long Ledges in Johns Bay to look for seals.  We did see a large adult swimming around the rocks, although I was the only one to spot it.  After learning about the history of Johns Island we continued our paddle around the harbor and back into the river mouth.

What a great day and we hope the kids keep on paddling!  Check out some picture of our day...
